Deutsche Bank, Kroger Slip into Monday’s 52-Week Low Club

September 26, 2016: Here are four stocks trading with relatively heavy volume among 21 equities making new 52-week lows in Monday’s session. NYSE decliners led advancers by nearly 2.5 to 1 and Nasdaq decliners led advancers by about the same margin.

Deutsche Bank AG (NYSE: DB) dropped about 12% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $11.23 after closing at $12.75 on Friday. The stock’s 52-week high is $30.82. Volume was more than 3 times the daily average of around 5.4 million shares. A potential $14 billion fine from U.S. regulators and the denial by German chancellor Angela Merkel of any government help for the bank sank its shares Monday.

The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) lost about 1.3% Monday to post a new 52-week low of $30.06 after closing Friday at $30.45. The 52-week high is $42.75. Volume of around 5.5 million was about 40% below the daily average of around 10 million shares traded. The supermarket chain had no specific news.

Acorda Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: ACOR) dropped more than 16% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $22.81 against a 52-week high of $43.63. Volume of around 2.4 million was about 5 times the daily average of 500,000 shares traded. The stock closed at $27.28 on Friday night. The biopharma company had no specific news Monday.

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (NYSE: ANF) dropped about 3.3% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $16.17 against a 52-week high of $32.83. Volume of around 1.1 million was about equal to the daily average. The stock closed at $16.72 on Friday night. The specialty retailer had no specific news.
