The S&P 500 sectors were mostly positive. The best performing sectors were Consumer Staples and Technology, up 0.8% and 0.4%, respectively. The worst performing sectors were Industrials and Financials, down 0.4%, and 0.3%, respectively.

Crude oil was up 0.5% at $54.41.
Gold was down 0.5% at $1,271.60.
The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage loss ahead of the close Tuesday was First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSLR) which traded down over 9% at $54.82. The stock’s 52-week range is $25.56 to $61.47. Volume was nearly 10 million versus the daily average roughly 2 million shares.
The stock posting the largest daily percentage gain in the S&P 500 ahead of the close Tuesday was The Mosaic Co. (NYSE: MOS) which rose about 7% to $22.36. The stock’s 52-week range is $19.23 to $34.36. Volume was about 11 million compared to its average volume of 4 million.
