Oracle, Starbucks Plunge into Wednesday’s 52-Week Low Club

June 20, 2018: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 60 equities making new 52-week lows in Wednesday’s session. On the NYSE advancers led decliners by about 1.55 to 1 and on the Nasdaq, advancers led decliners by about 1.81 to 1.

Oracle Corp. (NYSE: ORCL) traded down about 8% Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $42.57 after closing Tuesday at $46.27. The stock’s 52-week high is $53.48. Volume was about more than three times the daily average of around 15.6 million shares. The company’s quarterly earnings were disappointing.

Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ: SBUX) traded down about 10.2% Wednesday and posted a new 52-week low of $51.58 after closing Tuesday at $57.43. The stock’s 52-week high is $61.94. Volume totaled about 3.1 million, about a third higher than the daily average of around  3.2 million. The company said this last night that it will close 150 stores, among other changes, and analysts whacked the shares this morning.

Helios and Matheson Analytics Inc. (NASDAQ: HMNY) dropped about 33% Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $0.30. Shares closed at $0.45 on Tuesday and the stock’s 52-week high is $38.86. Volume was more than double the daily average of around 16 million. Theater owner AMC launched a competitive program to Helios’s MoviePass.

Celldex Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: CLDX) fell about 1.7% Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $0.58. Shares closed at $0.59 on Tuesday. The 52-week high is $3.26. Volume of around 3.8 million was around 10% higher than the daily average of about 3.7 million. The company had no specific news.
