After a relatively mild winter across most of the United States, spring is in the air, and Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) wants shoppers to check out its Spring Event. The promotion includes such items as vacuum cleaners, storage gear, air quality products, household supplies, and lawn and garden products.

Spring is a very big deal for home improvement stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s. Even Wal-Mart devotes a lot of floor space to grills, lawnmowers and a variety of gardening items. Buying a lawnmower or grill from Amazon is probably not top-of-mind for most consumers, so Amazon has decided to create an event in an effort to get noticed.

Here are some of the items we perused. Not all have a special price going into the event.

The quintessential spring purchase is a new grill. Amazon offers its “#1 Best Seller” Char-Broil Classic 4-Burner Gas Grill (model #463436215) for its regular price of $199.99. Free five to eight day shipping is included, and Amazon also offers a package deal including a grill cover for $236.30 and a second package with a grilling tool set for $229.98.

Amazon’s “#1 Best Seller” in lawnmowers is a GreenWorks 25302 20-inch cordless electric mower with a regular price of $399. Amazon is knocking $60 (15%) off the price and selling it for $339, again with free five to eight day shipping.

And for shoppers looking for new patio furniture, there’s a Crossman three-piece outdoor bistro set for $150.46, a savings of 50% from the regular price of $299.99. Free five to eight day shipping is included as well.

Finally, a Prevue 465 Red Barn Chicken Coop is selling for $289.98, a savings of 52% from the regular price of $599.99. Amazon is also offering a coupon for an additional $20 off the selling price and free shipping is available. In case you’re wondering, the coop is large enough for four to six chickens.
