8 Top Earnings for the Week Ahead

Earnings season is in full swing, when most major companies will report and set a direction for the market. We have included the consensus earnings estimates from Thomson Reuters and the stock price and trading history, as well as added some additional color on each.

Note that the earnings and revenue estimates may change ahead of the formal reports, and some companies may reschedule reporting dates as well.

BP PLC (NYSE: BP) is set to report its most recent results on Tuesday. The analysts’ consensus estimates call for earnings per share (EPS) of $0.25 and $50.51 billion in revenue. Shares were changing hands at $35.68 on Friday’s close. The consensus price target is $37.09, and the 52-week range is $27.01 to $37.53.

Gilead Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ: GILD) is scheduled to report its third-quarter results on Tuesday. The consensus estimates are $2.85 in EPS and $7.44 billion in revenue. Shares were at $73.88 as last week came to a close. The consensus price target is $101.11, and the 52-week range is $72.21 to $109.95.

Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) is expected to share its latest quarterly earnings on Tuesday. The consensus estimates call for $0.62 in EPS on $13.05 billion in revenue. Shares were at $31.93 on Friday’s close, in a 52-week range of $28.25 to $37.39. The consensus price target is $38.74.

United States Steel Corp. (NYSE: X) also will post its most recent quarterly results on Tuesday. The consensus estimates call for EPS of $0.80 and $2.82 billion in revenue. Shares of U.S. Steel were at $19.31 at the close on Friday, in a 52-week range of $6.15 to $27.64. The stock has a consensus analyst target of $20.47.

Whole Foods Market Inc. (NASDAQ: WFM) is expected to reveal its fiscal fourth-quarter results on Wednesday. The consensus forecast calls for $0.24 in EPS, as well as $3.5 billion in revenue. The stock ended last week at $28.75 per share. The consensus price target is $30.47, and the 52-week range is $27.67 to $35.58.

Chesapeake Energy Corp. (NYSE: CHK) is set to reveal its third-quarter results on Thursday. The consensus estimates call for a net loss of $0.03 per share, but $2.18 billion in revenue. Shares were trading at $5.79 on Friday’s close. The consensus price target is $7.44. The stock has a 52-week range of $1.50 to $8.15.

Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ: SBUX) will to share its latest quarterly earnings on Thursday as well. The consensus estimates call for $0.55 in EPS and $5.68 billion in revenue. Shares were at $53.53 as Friday’s trading ended, in a 52-week range of $52.59 to $64.00. The consensus price target is $65.73.

Duke Energy Corp. (NYSE: DUK) is scheduled to report its third-quarter results on Friday. The consensus analyst estimates call for $1.58 in EPS and revenue of $6.9 billion. Shares ended last week at $78.72. The consensus price target is $82.59. The 52-week range is $65.50 to $87.75.
